故郷は遠きに ―樺太をあとにした人々―

2026.07.27 - 2026.08.02 広瀬明代 故郷は遠きに ―樺太をあとにした人々― 樺太（からふと）は、かつて多くの日本人が暮らした土地である。現在のロシア・サハリン州だ。終戦により人々は故郷を追われ、樺太は「近くて遠い故郷」となった。私は樺太で暮らした経験を持つ人々を訪ね、その肖像と証言を記録している。そこには地上戦や略奪、過酷な引き揚げといった、あまり知られていない戦争の体験が残されていた。本展は、失われつつある歴史を後世に伝えるための試みである。 Karafuto was once home to a large Japanese population. Today, it is part of Russia's Sakhalin Oblast. After World War II, many residents were separated from their homeland, and Karafuto became a “distant homeland” for those who could no longer return. I have photographed former residents of Karafuto and recorded their memories. Their stories reveal little-known experiences of war, including ground battles, looting, and the hardships of repatriation. Through these portraits and testimonies, this exhibition seeks to preserve a history that is gradually fading from living memory.
